We also have a market-leading mine health and safety offering.

We add value through our strong understanding of operational and technical aspects such as geology and mining engineering, as well as our deep knowledge of commercial, regulatory and geopolitical considerations.

Diversity

Our dynamic mining team, headed by Ntsiki Adonisi-Kgame, is the epitome of diversity and inclusion, and is known for its trailblazing gender and racial diversity. Prestigious international ranking agency Legal 500 notes: “The strength of the ENS team lies in the calibre of people at the firm.”

Our deep understanding of Africa’s many cultures, languages, practices and markets allows us to draw from a wide array of experience and perspectives to create innovative, multi-dimensional solutions for our clients, who are equally diverse: from prospectors and explorers to the largest mining companies in the world and regulators across a number of African jurisdictions.

Our diversity extends to the languages we speak. We are able to advise in English, French, Portuguese, Cantonese and Mandarin, and we are also fluent in a plethora of African languages across Sub-Saharan Africa.

ESG

The impact of ESG and sustainability is greatly illuminated in the mining industry. Consequently, our ESG experts collaborate across the African continent to help our mining clients weave environmental, social and governance considerations into every aspect of their business.

We have a proven track record of dealing with environmental aspects of mining, including environmental management, mine rehabilitation and mine closure.

We also have deep experience in the social aspects of mining, such as community engagement and development, local content and stakeholder management.

In respect of governance aspects, we are known for working with and advising African regulators and building robust regulatory frameworks. In advising the mining industry on resource governance and regulator engagement, we are known for our tough but constructive engagement with regulators.

In addition, we have deep expertise in related fields such as climate change, green finance and renewable energy.
