Zara Sher
practical experience
Zara Sher is an Executive at ENS in the Dispute Resolution practice (Litigation, Arbitration and Mediation) and Insurance Practice Group.
She focuses primarily on insurance and reinsurance related matters, and has a particular interest in insurance claims disputes and complex insurance claims.
Zara has extensive experience and a depth of expertise in dealing with insurance disputes and in analysing insurance programs. She also has experience in dealing with construction disputes as well as general commercial litigation matters. Zara is an accomplished litigator, particularly in relation to insurance claims, on-demand insurance guarantee claims and other security arrangements.
Zara has specific expertise in and an in-depth knowledge of commercial business insurance covers. She is well versed in the various insurance product wordings including, for example, Assets All Risks (Property Damage and Business Interruption), Commercial Crimes, Cyber, Goods-in-Transit, Professional Indemnity, Directors’ & Officers’ Liability, General and Public Liability, Political Violence (including SASRIA), and Construction and Engineering (including construction insurance guarantees).
She was involved substantially in the business interruption insurance claims consequent upon the Covid-19 pandemic, the July 2021 Kwa-Zulu Natal political violence claims and the July 2022 Kwa-Zulu Natal flood claims.
Zara is also a member of the ENSureAfrica team comprising insurance law practitioners from each of ENS’s on the ground African offices. ENSureAfrica is a team dedicated to providing insurance law expertise / advices and services on the continent, in the context of increasing insurance activity on the continent and Africa now being regarded as the new frontier for insurance expansion.
Zara has presented CPD accredited insurance seminars and lectures, these through and in conjunction with the Insurance Institute of South Africa.
