Johann Basson


practical experience
Johann Basson is an Executive at ENS in the Banking and Finance practice. He specialises in trade finance, acquisition finance, export credit insurance, preference share funding and other general syndicated and bilateral debt/equity financing transactions, both on and offshore.
He has acted, amongst others, for lenders (including local and foreign of banks), corporate borrowers and foreign law firms, regularly advising on multi-billion Rand transactions. He has also been involved in various debt work-out transactions for distressed borrowers and have acted for South Africa's largest export credit insurer in connection with various projects undertaken throughout Africa. He has also advised banks and structured funds on various cross-border trade and commodity finance transactions and have extensive experience in pension law and corporate and international tax.
