Jenny Klein
practical experience
Jenny Klein is a principal associate in the Tax practice at ENS. She specialises in employees’ tax, individual income tax and international tax matters and is closely involved with inward and outbound assignments of employees. She has extensive experience with advising companies across various industries, including retail, mining and financial services, with regard to employees’ tax matters, which include various aspects of employee benefits and incentive schemes, personal service providers and independent contractors, as well as conducting payroll reviews.
She has advised various South African and multinational clients on the employees’ tax and personal income tax considerations in relation to the international assignment of employees, including expatriate tax planning, tax equalisation and applying double taxation agreements. In addition, she assists clients with expatriate payroll calculations and local tax compliance obligations.
Jenny’s experience includes being involved in negotiations with the South African Revenue Service on employees’ tax matters, which includes assisting with the Alternative Dispute Resolution process and drafting applications for advance tax rulings. She also advises high net worth individuals on tax issues in relation to local and offshore trusts, as well as on South African exchange control requirements. In addition, Jenny has advised various clients regarding the tax considerations applicable to retirement funds.
Jenny is a member of a dedicated ENSafrica team specialising in the commercial, financial, legal, tax and regulatory aspects relevant to employee and management remuneration, benefits and incentives. This team services blue chip South African corporates in the listed and unlisted space, designing and implementing incentive plans to achieve their desired commercial outcomes. The team also advises numerous international specialised services and law firms on an ad hoc and annual basis in relation to their multinational clients operating incentive plans across the African continent.
Jenny is a member of the Personal & Employment Taxes Technical Work Group of the South African Institute of Taxation.
