Darren Band is an Executive at ENS in the Dispute Resolution practice and specialises in mining litigation, contract litigation, corporate litigation and administrative reviews.

He represents industry leaders in the mining, gambling and hospitality sectors of the economy.

Darren’s experience includes High Court litigation and private arbitrations to protect or enforce clients’ interests according to their industry needs. This includes Darren’s focus area of advising clients in the mining industry in disputes about mineral rights granted in terms of the Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Act (MPRDA).  Since the commencement of the MPRDA in 2004, Darren has acted for many high profile clients with a presence locally and internationally in cases which have been published in the South African law reports. He regularly advises clients about internal appeals brought against administrative decisions taken in terms the MPRDA.

Darren also advises clients in the gaming / gambling sector regarding applications to the industry regulators for new licences, the transfer of licences and applications to hold a financial interest in licences.
