Carmen Abboy


practical experience
Carmen Abboy is an Associate at ENSafrica in the Employment practice. She specialises in unfair dismissal disputes, unprotected industrial action, interpretation and application of collective agreements, organisational rights disputes, retrenchment dismissals and Section 197 transfers.
She has acted for the tyre manufacturing industry, the automobile industry, the farming sector and the printing and paper manufacturing industry.
Carmen’s experience includes the drafting of various contracts of employment and settlement agreements, chairing of disciplinary enquiries, drafting and preparation of pleadings and heads of argument in the Labour Court and CCMA, as well as civil litigation, advice on Section 189 and Section 189A retrenchment dismissals, advice on Section 197 transfers, ESTA, unfair dismissal and incapacity disputes. Her practice experience further extends to interpretation and application disputes, drafting of collective agreements, organisational rights disputes and unprotected industrial action.
