ENSafrica IP receives stellar results in WTR 1000 and Chambers Global Guide

ENSafrica’s IP team has received outstanding rankings in the 2022 World Trademark Review’s WTR 1000, one of IP law’s most prestigious rankings.

Head of ENSafrica IP, Gaelyn Scott, along with Delene Bertasso and Waldo Steyn, were recognised in the enforcement and litigation category. Gaelyn and Waldo were also listed in the prosecution and strategy category, along with Ilse du Plessis, Manisha Bugwandeen-Doorasamy and Rowan Forster. Waldo also received recognition in the transactions category, as did André Maré.

Below is what was said of the team by the WTR 1000:

  • [Gaelyn Scott] “knows when to fight and when to negotiate, and always keeps the client’s business needs in mind.”
  • “A breath of fresh air”, [Ilse] du Plessis “handles trademark matters with care and precision, and her counsel is both straightforward and informative.”
  • Delene Bertasso…“navigates the intricacies of the law while protecting and honouring clients’ wishes”. In the words of one patron: “Her unwavering generosity – not only in terms of time and rates, but also regarding transparency, understanding, sensitivity and empathy in her communications – matches our organisation’s institutional values and is much appreciated.”
  • Manisha Bugwandeen-Doorasamy and Rowan Forster are masterminds when it comes to creating strong, identifiable and enforceable brands.
  • Waldo Steyn is a strategic thinker with fresh ideas who brings deep profound commercial know-how to his counselling.
  • …transactional ace André Maré [is a] “proactive attorney who always responds in a case-appropriate manner and never with an automatic reply. He provides on-point training and his advice is commercially sound”.

In addition, our IP team was also praised in the 2021 Chambers Global Guide: "The experience and institutional knowledge of the ENSafrica IP team is unparalleled”. Gaelyn Scott also continues to be ranked Band 1 within the guide.
